why not make the 'favorites' list and see what happens after you review it? a common favorite you're not utilizing could be worthwhile to put into action.

'so they soud like they mean what the song says'
it depends upon who determines that.
mr x may think it's the most sincere thing ever heard but miss y yawns!!!
in general, wouldn't you just stay in tune and cover all the basics as precisely as possible? everyone must do their best at all times and gradually improve.
if you crest the wave in a magic moment on presentation, everyone will know.
don't forget to pray.

we've moved to kennett, mo to work up the road at holcomb schools.
we visited the first baptist, first methodist and the open door church in that small town...met many nice folx.
we're mostly going to the slicer street church of Christ in kennett.
super church.
sam, the open door church wants to be 'contemporary'.
music seems to always to be karaoke and everyone watches the big screen power point...mighty weak with little participation...no notation, just words. not my cup of tea, but i don't mind to provide them w/info. advice for them i can pass along?

'Inclusion in what DJ?'
inclusion in His church.
'lord's supper without some kind of explanation of what it's about'
i've been to too many kinds of churches to count, but i've never attended one that did not indicate what communion was about.
'I would include for the most part thee, thou, wast, etc.'
probably not as big a problem as presumed.

i don't particularly agree with the game metaphor.
just as was done for each of us here, God sets the terms of inclusion.

if your giving and praying or singing declines, are you becoming less worshipful?
if the decline is natural due to age, illness, or accident, it would not be withholding anything from God.
'What we devote our time, money, efforts, and suffering to is what we consider worthy of worship.'
we had best encourage folx to be thinking that it might require some effort to worship.

it's never advocated that we should give less to the collection plate than we should.
why acquiesce to telling our people to not give more to the singing than they do?
'worship leading isn't about getting others to sing songs. We're not trying to make better singers out of Christians but more worshipful people out of sinners.'
'better singing does not necessarily mean better (genuine) worship.'
lack of improving singing is a sign of less than genuine commitment. the % 'betterness' will be different for each person, just like the 'widow's mite or the millionaire's check', it's there and noticeable.

then why did then do it? i do not doubt they were on the right track.
did we not try to measure genuineness here a few years ago?
as soon as someone preaches that the congregation is giving too much in the way of contributions, i may buy his idea that the congregation is giving too much in the way of singing, but probably not.

the folx who faced the plethora of poor-singing congregations in the colonies beginning with the generation after the pilgrims felt much differently.
they went so far as to design and utilize the shape-note methods to encourage and foster adequate member singing skills.

4. What are you learning about your voice or instrument?
still getting better, halleluia! shooting for more tonal clarity on both voice and trumpet.
5. What is one of your biggest hopes for 2008 for your ministry?
