We have purchased the mac and propresenter.

It's not a bad program. Easy to use, and works with the mac remote!

The only thing I have any issue with really is looping my videos. They loop but it's not seamless. Other than that, it's pretty sweet.
Oh, with the motion backgrounds, you can insert different backgrounds to change during the song, or you can do it on the fly. Yeah, pretty sweet!

Needed... 02-09-2009 10:08 Forum: TEMPLE

Hey folks,
I'm in need of a bass for a youth rally I'm doing. I have most of the team assembled but my bass had to drop out on me. The weekend is Feb. 27,28 and March 1st.

Anyone have any suggestions or references for that? We'll get them down here, but I just need to know of one.

Thanks.

Does anyone on here use propresenter? We are thinking of purchasing a mac and was wondering about this program.

What I ended up doing was having a mixture of songs and scripture. The first half of the service is praising God for his faithfulness in 2008 and then communion in the middle (remembering our past; celebrating our future), then trusting in God for his faithfulness to us in 2009.

Thanks for your suggestions guys!

New Year Service 12-10-2008 10:13 Forum: TEMPLE

Hey everyone!
I'm working on planning a New Year's service for January 4th 2009. There will be no sermon that morning, just a time of worship!

My problem is that my creative side is in hibernation right now!

Would some of you share some ideas you have for the first worship service in the New Year? Or could you share what you did this year or others in the past?

I would be blessed, and I'm sure others would too!

I pray everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!

Thanks Adam. I will look into that.

Got the book in and haven't been able to stop reading it. I connect with him in so many ways on so many levels! I too appreciate his honesty in how he learned through triumph and mistake!

The Network 03-17-2008 01:20 Forum: MIND

You know the Verizon commercials, someone gets a phone, then they have the whole network following them around...

Do you ever feel connected to God or each other like that?

I wonder about my prayer life sometimes. I know it's a priority, but where does it fall in my priorities?

One thing I face with the college-age group is the the lack of enthusiam when it comes to prayer. We have a time, similiar to one that Adam referred to in another thread, where we focus on prayer. We pray out loud, we pray together, separately, in groups...It really can be awesome. At our meeting last week, we prayed for over an hour. It was truly amazing.

So how about you? Any personal experiences with prayer? Good? Bad??

That sounds awesome. We are launching a 30 days of prayer. We have a prayer booklet that will be given to all the members written by the staff. Just devo type stuff but focused on a particular subject for prayer. Scripture focused.

We also have a weekend of prayer, where we are have a Friday night and Saturday retreat with prayer.

We, too, want it to be appealing to all ages. I, in campus ministry, see how many don't see prayer as important as some other spiritual disciplines. We have a service on Wednesday nights called We Bow Down and we just pray and worship or worship and prayer or mix it all up. Last week, we just spent a whole hour praying. It was awesome!

Maybe I need another post, but this is great conversation...yeah, let me start anew post! Thanks Adam!

Our church is having a big prayer push this year. I might have to recommend this to other staff to read!

Thanks!

Well, I have checked off and on for the past year. But I admit, I haven't done too much posting.

Like Kitty and others, I felt that the forum lost some of its personality when we switched over. I remember when we were on that temp site before the new opened? Anybody remember that? The one with the map and put had a pin and picture where you were on the map? And most of our posts were, "Hey, there I am!" It was a family who I could disagree with, but still loved going to.

I want to be there again!

Thanks Michael!

WOW! Kitty! God bless you! Just the others, my thoughts and prayers are with you!

I'm leading worship this Sunday. I was hired as a campus minister, not really a worship leader, but they want me to be one...politics...

Anyway, I led last Sunday (Yesterday!) and we did a big palm Sunday remembrance kindof thing. The entire service was awesome! God was really working or as I've heard it said, the Spirit was in tune!

For easter, we are mixing things up a bit. Nothing special. Just ending with communion. There will be stations around the worship assembly. Looks to be great!

Man, i just wanted to say how much I've missed being on here!! Missed you guys!

Moving in Ministry 12-14-2007 08:49 Forum: PRAYER

Hey folks, nothing serious, just want you to rejoice with me and pray with me.

I was just hired as campus minister at LSU through the church there. I'm excited about it, but it's going to be different. I'll be doing some worship, but mostly dealing with students.

I'm excited because, not only will I be on campus, I have seen God lead me to through his will.

So just throw up a prayer for me and my family when you get the chance!

Love you guys and gals! God bless!

Hey WF!
I'm looking for the sheet music to Beulah Land. The traditional hymn sung at funerals. Beulah Land, I'm longing for you. And some day....
Anyone have that sheet music? I could use it as soon as possible! Let me know thanks!

Maybe you could set the church up like a baseball field, let the elders be the umpires and play communion baseball...

ok, gotta ask forgiveness for that one before God strikes me down.

Thank you for your prayers.

IT WAS A BLAST!! My wife, the rugrats and I had a great time. The family there was more than friendly and welcoming. The singing was great! The worship, from the heart.

I just thank you for your prayers and praise God for guiding us and protecting us this weekend.

(Drew, I might just take you up on that offer! Well, just to worship with you guys!)

Have Voice, Will Travel 06-07-2007 08:15 Forum: PRAYER

Sorry, my mind just wasn't working, so that's the best subject line I could come up with.

I will be leading worship at the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ this Sunday morning. I would appreciate your prayers for my family as we travel, and also for me leading and the church worshipping.

South Baton Rouge is a fairly large church compared to where I'm at now. I've never led worship for more than 250 people. This should be an exciting experience. I will be teaching music there this summer. They've been looking for a worship leader for a while and have actually hinted before about trying to "steal" me away from my current congregation. Please be in prayer about this with me. Just, well, just so God's will be done and that we can accept it.

Thank you family. I will also be praying for your services this weekend and your daily worship! May we lift Jesus up higher and higher everyday!!

I can totally relate to you brother! Well, ok not totally, but somewhat. Big Grin

Our congregation has been in a stagnant mode for about 3 years. We are not growing, just remaining. As far as worship goes, we've gotten out of the old rut, but our outreach is lacking. We don't do much to show love out into the community. In fact, mostly, we just sit in our pews and wait for them to come to us.

Small groups have been a thing I've been praying for, for quite some time. The congregation has tried it, but didn't really know what they were doing. Our Sunday night attendance has been almost non-existent, and our people just don't seem to want to get involved in anything. So one of our old elders suggested we try it. (Since hurricane rita, he's been up in Kentucky attending Southeast Christian.)

As you can imagine, several of the younger crowd were all for it and most of the older crowd was totally against it. We prayed and prayed for God to show us a way to reach our church as well as the community and this just kept coming up. But it seemed as though he wasn't allowing that door to open up.

Well, several weeks passed and it was like a tug-of-war every time the topic was mentioned. People on both sides were at odds. Still our eldership prayed and our deacons and staff prayed about this. But it didn't seem to be a thing that would happen soon. I must say, I was very disappointed and discouraged.

So, I started a Sunday night class, at the church called H2O where we look at the living water that Jesus gives. I tried to create a home setting, couches, cookies, drinks... The first night I had 8, and that included my wife and me. The next week I had 14. I've been doing it for 4 weeks now. This past Sunday, we had 25 in a cramped little room, but people love it. There are people coming who stopped going to church a long time ago. But, still I prayed that God allow us to do his will, but also I asked for the elders to allow us to move to homes. I was told, wait for a month, then move to a home. Ok, progress...but not what I was exactly asking for.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING GOD??

Then, the elders, in a meeting with the ministers and deacons, were approached by a deacon who was involved in small groups in college. Between him and me presenting material, the elders said, "You know, let's just learn all we can this summer about running the small group ministry and let's try to start it in the fall."

It was then that I realized, it had nothing to do with me, the deacons, or anyone. It was all God. He knew when the right time would come. He knows the plans he has for us. So I just had to pray, "OK, God, I know that you are in control. It's just hard sometimes to see where you are going or what you are doing. But I guess, that's not really for me to have to know anyway."
